Plan a Visit to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium

Families from across North America visit Florida to escape harsh winters, lounge on pristine beaches, and explore some of the world’s best attractions. Many tourists flock to Florida’s Gulf Coast specifically to swim with dolphins, whale watch, and snorkel. The Gulf of Mexico is brimming with beautiful mammals, colorful fish, and breathtaking coral reefs. There is one attraction, approximately 17 miles north of St. Pete Beach, that is genuinely helping preserve the majestic creatures that swim under the teal sea: the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Travel Resort Services (TRS) has cozy, affordable resort rentals in Indian Shores and Dunedin, both a short drive from this revolutionary non-profit. Visit nearby Clearwater to spend an unforgettable day with the entire family at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium!

Rescue, Rehab, and Release

The altruistic staff and volunteers at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium have adopted a simple model: “rescue, rehab, and release.” Each rescued animal arrives at their world-class hospital where they’re treated and rehabilitated by a highly-trained team of experienced staff biologists, veterinarians, and volunteers. Visitors, of course, can witness the healing process first-hand. Each dollar spent at the aquarium helps the non-profit stay afloat. Families visit the Clearwater Marine Aquarium to donate money, learn how to support the cause, and provide love to these injured or ill sea creatures.

Animal Encounters

Before diving into which animal encounters are offered at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, here are some of the beautiful mammals inside the park: dolphins, otters, sharks, sea turtles, pelicans, stingrays, and a variety of fish, including eels, clownfish, burrfish, and seahorses. Many of these animals have names, such as “Hope” the dolphin, “Wallie” the otter, and “Rufus” the pelican. One of the most popular encounters at the aquarium is the three-hour Dolphin and Animal Care Assistant program where lucky guests have the opportunity to shadow a dedicated staff member for an up-close-and-personal experience with dolphins, otters, and pelicans. You’ll help with food preparation, animal enrichment, record keeping, and exhibit maintenance. Take your photo with these friendly animals (including a nurse shark) after hand-feeding them. Educational programs, over a dozen exhibits, and boat and kayak tours are also offered at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
