If you’re looking for a great read and show all in one

Big Little Lies – Liane Moriarty

The Handmaid’s Tale – Margaret Atwood

Both Big Little Lies and The Handmaid’s Tale have been made into showstopping tv moments you won’t want to miss! If you haven’t read either of these two books, you’re going to want too. Not only do both of these shows boast famous casts but the books show more than what you’ll see on screen. All of the minute details come alive that don’t make it into the live show. For Big Little Lies, the story centers around three women, and their lives in a small coastal town where the little lies we tell ourselves can become dangerous.

The Handmaid’s Tale focuses on a dystopian culture where individual women are valued only to procreate. This engaging novel not only brings forth discussions on gender and the importance of certain people over others, but it also looks at what life might be like if this were the reality.

You can watch Big Little Lies on HBO and The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu.

If you’re looking for a thrill

The Woman in Cabin 10 – Ruth Ware

Before the Fall – Noah Hawley

Into the Water by Paula Hawkins

Suspenseful books are interesting to read at the beach as they sometimes can suck you into the events within the novel. All three of these options have spine-tingling turns if you want to lose track of time. The Woman in Cabin 10 offers a thrilling story about a journalist who encounters a mystery aboard a cruise ship. Before the Fall, is about a plane crash and the lives of the only two survivors of this tragic event. Into the Water includes a thrilling tale of murder in the town’s’ river where the suspect and history, memory, and emotion come together as one.

If you’re looking for some poetry

Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur

Rupi Kaur’s popular book Milk and Honey is truly a beautiful read and one that lets the reader think about love, bitterness, and life. Broken up into four separate chapter you can read them front to back or any which way you please.

If you’re looking for a dystopian alternative universe

1984 – George Orwell
